Growth test program RuneScape
Hello everyone,
It has been nearly two weeks since the beta test HTML5 limited access began. We wish to tell you about its progress and our plans for the coming weeks.
On the occasion of this first phase of beta testing, we observed a remarkable turnout of the players who have already helped a lot. On the first day of the beta test, more than 100,000 gaming sessions have been launched since the client HTML5 game! You notify us of thousands of bugs and we collected a lot of information about the issues shift (lag) and frames per second. With this valuable data, we can improve the stability and performance of the game client
This motivates us a lot to work with new technologies such as HTML5 and WebGL, but it is not an easy task! At present, the game RuneScape is the most comprehensive and complex to use the new browser. We are proud to be the first to try this experiment, but it is also a major challenge. We thank you for your help really.
At this moment, we are trying to solve the problems of the game crashes and major bugs. We hope to absorb all of the major problems within a week or two, and allow you to access a client much more stable test. Corrections are regularly implemented in the beta test, and we encourage participants to keep an eye on the thread lists patch Mod Chris E, available on dedicated beta test forums (in English only).
In two weeks we will focus on improving the customer. For the moment, the problems of lag and low frame rate slow, complicated and spoil the progression of some players in the beta test. However, we found that the performance of the client is not simply related to the performance of your computer: a few minor differences in the software drivers for your graphics card or some computer configurations may have a significant impact on the number of images per second. In addition, certain areas of the game considerably slow client. These issues are part of the list of corrections we need to make the game and highlight how your help is important. Some computers with medium settings can now run the HTML5 client with a framerate satisfactory. This means that we are on the right track!
In the coming weeks, we will focus on solving graphic problems, to ensure that the appearance of the water is appropriate and that different sky textures are properly implemented. Water as you see right now in the beta client is created with only a basic version of shaders, and you'll notice more improvements when we will implement the various elements of this new technology.
Last week we also launched the first alpha version of the new system interfaces. It was a real pleasure to read your comments very constructive, creative and relevant. Mod ThatJim issued a message in English forums dedicated to alpha-test to give you an overview of the features that the team will now work and are based on your suggestions. We will provide more information during the update of the alpha version of interfaces, later in the week.
We are still at the beginning of the test program, and HTML5 client will undergo significant improvements in the weeks and months ahead. It is with your help that we can give life to this new technology and improve the gaming experience of RuneScape, so a big thank you to all those involved in the test program!
